PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's son Muhammad Khalil is among the three nominated to contest for the party's Youth chief post for the 2017-2019 term.

The Islamist party will be holding its leadership elections in conjunction with the PAS muktamar or annual meet, which will be held in Alor Setar, Kedah, from April 29 to May 1.

Apart from Muhammad Khalil, the other nominees are current Youth vice-chief Khairil Nizam Khiruddin and the wing's information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari.

The current Youth chief, Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, 47, will be relinquishing his post due to age factor.

Muhammad Khalil, 40, is currently the deputy PAS Youth chief and Terengganu PAS vice-chairperson.

He is a graduate of Al-Eman University, Yemen, which was founded by Sheik Abdul Majid al-Zindani. Following this, Muhammad Khalil lectured at Kolej Universiti Darul Quran Islamiyyah (Kudqi).

He is the eldest of Hadi's 14 children.
