PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang's son Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi has emerged as the new PAS Youth chief.

Khalil won the position uncontested, replacing Nik Mohamed Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, son of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz, who did not defend the post.

Khalil's deputy will be Khairil Nizam Khiruddin, who also won the post uncontested.

Several of the top posts, including permanent chairperson, deputy permanent chairperson, and vice-chief also did not see any contest.

Kamal Ashaari will be the new permanent chairperson, Riduan Mohd Nor will be the new deputy permanent chairperson and Ahmad Fadhli Shaari will be the new vice-chief.

Mohd Shahir Abu Hassan and Muhammad Ali Rajaie Jamaludin will take the position of auditors, which were also won without contest.

The results were announced by PAS elections board secretary Wan Rohimi Wan Daud.

"The positions above were won uncontested therefore no election will be held for the said positions at the 63rd PAS Muktamar," Wan Rohimi said.

All Ulama wing posts won uncontested

A total of 14 candidates will be vying for 12 positions as committee members.

Wan Rohimi also announced that the PAS Ulama wing would see zero contest at the muktamar as all 17 positions were won uncontested.

Mahfodz Mohamad retains his position as PAS Ulama chief, with the deputy being Nik Zawawi Mohd Salleh and the vice-chief, Johari Mat.

Likewise, the top posts in the PAS Muslimat wing also went uncontested, with the exception of the committee member posts, for which 16 candidates will vie for 12 positions.

Nuridah Salleh will serve as PAS Muslimat chief with Rosni Adam as her deputy and Salamiah Mohd Noor as the vice-chief.

The results were announced through PAS organ Harakahdaily.

The top two positions in the PAS central body were also won uncontested.

Hadi retained his position as president and his deputy, Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, also retained his post.

The party appears to have formed a consensus on minimising internal contests ahead of the general election, which is due by August next year.

In the last party election, the conservative faction purged the progressives from the party, with the those defeated eventually leaving PAS and forming a splinter party, Parti Amanah Negara.

The conservatives have since had an undisputed foothold in the Islamist party.
