New Generation Party secretary-general S Gobi Krishnan said Mohamad Ezam Mohd Noor is the recognised chairperson of the party, based on the official record from the Registrar of Societies.

This comes after a group of party members, led by its "president" G Kumaar Aamaan, disputed Mohamad Ezam's status yesterday. Mohamad Ezam has moved to rename the party as Parti Bebas Rasuah, and it is pending ROS approval.

Gobi Krishnan said Mohamad Ezam, together with former Umno division vice-chief Khairuddin Abu Hasan, were elected chairperson and deputy chairperson by the supreme council of party, which is also referred to as the NewGen, on March 11 and that this was approved by the extraordinary general meeting on March 30.

"This was officially submitted to ROS, updated in the e-ROSES system and accepted as the official supreme council members of the party by ROS," he added at a press conference outside the ROS headquarters in Putrajaya today.

An e-ROSES record dated April 17 shows Mohd Ezam, Khairuddin and Gobi Krishnan to be the chairperson, deputy chairperson and secretary-general of NewGen, respectively.

Gobi Krishnan also claimed that Kumaar Aamaan, who is an ordinary member of NewGen, tried to submit "fake minutes" of the party’s extraordinary general meeting to ROS and duplicated the e-ROSES account on March 29.

This was informed by a ROS officer via email, and Gobi Krishnan said he sent a denial.

"This shows that Kumaar Aamaan, with assistance from several parties, is intending to commit a fraud. But it was successfully stopped by ROS," he added.

As such, Gobi Krishnan urged ROS to take legal action against Kumaar Aamaan and company as attempting to commit fraud.

He also revealed the NewGen supreme council is going to meet as soon as possible to take disciplinary action against Kumaar Aamaan.

The party will also lodge a police report against self-proclaimed acting secretary-general Mohd Zaini Jafar for faking party membership and take legal action as well against TV3 and Utusan Malaysia for "spreading fake news".

Yesterday, a group claiming to be NewGen members disputed the legitimacy of the party's move to elect new leaders and rename the party as Parti Bebas Rasuah.

Kumaar Aamaan and Mohd Zaini claimed that the party's members and leadership were not consulted on this.

However, this was denied by Mohamad Ezam, who is former PKR Youth chief. He is applying to change the party name to Parti Bebas Rasuah.
