New Generation Party (NewGen) secretary-general S Gobi Krishnan said Ezam Mohd Noor is the recognised chairperson of the party, based on the official record from the Registrar of Societies.

This comes after a group of party members, led by its "president" G Kumar Aaman, disputed Ezam's status yesterday. Ezam has moved to rename the party as Parti Bebas Rasuah, and it is pending ROS approval.

Gobi said Ezam, together with former Umno division vice-chief Khairuddin Abu Hasan, were elected chairperson and deputy chairperson by the supreme council of party, which is also referred to as the New Gen Party, on March 11 and that this was approved by the extraordinary general meeting on March 30...
