Pairin: Jobseekers mustn't be choosy during period of uncertainty

Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Joseph Pairin Kitingan has urged job seekers to not be too choosy in their search for jobs as they are now facing a period of economic uncertainty.

He said this group of people should not shy away from starting from the very bottom in any field of work that is available.

"As we strive to achieve a developed high-income nation status, we need to increase the percentage of skilled workers to at least 35 percent by 2020.

"As such job seekers in this state are advised against being too picky in their career choice," he said in his speech at the Keningau Career and Employment Carnival today.

Commenting on the carnival, Pairin said it was adopting the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) by having strategic collaboration among the relevant agencies in helping job seekers in their job search and obtaining latest information on job opportunities.

Some 4,745 jobs are on offer at the carnival which is being participated by 123 employers.

The carnival started on April 24 in Kota Kinabalu and will end in Sandakan on April 29.
