Reveal chess tourney dress code, Wanita MIC demands

Wanita MIC wants the organisers of the National Scholastic Chess Championship 2017 to reveal the dress code, which was allegedly breached when a 12-year-old chess player wore a knee-length dress.

Wanita MIC chief Mohana Muniandy said organisers must also immediately explain and apologise over the matter.

"If they are saying she's in violation, then they need to point out the dress code and which code was violated, or else it's just an opinion that has no ground to stand on," she said in a statement.

Chess coach Kaushal Khandhar last week said the tournament director and chief arbiter of the championship did not allow the girl to compete because of her dress.

The chief arbiter later conceded and apologised to the girl and assured there was nothing wrong with her dress, but could not change the tournament director's decision, he said...
