PAS Youth has denied any involvement with a widely-circulated poster about organising a protest against American metal band Megadeth's concert in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

Nevertheless, the wing is still opposed to the concert, questioning why a band, which was formerly barred from performing in Kuala Lumpur in 2001, has been allowed to hold a concert here this time.

"This Megadeth concert has been barred before, in 2001. It is understood that the basis for the ban was that the influence of their music would have negative effects on the fans.

"PAS Youth questions the authorities' stringency in handling this concert, even though the Entertainment Guidelines in Islam have clearly been endorsed," PAS Youth information chief Hishamuddin Abdul Karim said in a statement today.

Hishamuddin was referring to the Entertainment Guidelines in Islam (Second Edition) as published by Jakim and endorsed by the National Fatwa Committee in 2015.

"For a brighter future for the country and a higher quality and balance of development for the rakyat, PAS Youth questions the organising of such a concert.

"Will this (concert) benefit the rakyat, or will it only open up space for the rakyat to witness this unhealthy culture in the country?" Hishamuddin asked.

Islam is not a religion against entertainment, as it provides opportunities to Muslims to enjoy entertainment within easy and clear limits, he explained.

He is confident that PAS would not be against any concert which follows the guidelines set by the religious authorities.

Megadeth, a thrash metal band from Los Angeles, is set to perform at the Stadium Negara tomorrow night.

It has been reported that the tickets for the concert are selling fast.

The band is considered by many to be the pioneer of the American thrash metal scene.
