PKR Youth leader Adam Rosly Abdullah, who has been charged with providing false statements and documents related to his wealth, has lashed out at party vice-president Rafizi Ramli.

He accused the Pandan lawmaker of being motivated by an "improper agenda" with regard to the latter's remarks concerning his case.

"I am very disappointed by the remarks made by Rafizi in a press conference suggesting that I am guilty of the charges against me.

"He showed no respect for the principle that a person is innocent till proven guilty; and his comments were totally inappropriate since the case against me is still pending in court.

"His rant against me is malicious and motivated by an improper agenda," added the Ampang PKR Youth leader in a media statement.

Previously, Rafizi had proposed that Adam be relieved of his party positions as this would help PKR distance itself from the matter.

Going on leave

Meanwhile, Adam, who reiterated his innocence, revealed that he would be going on leave pending his case.

"It is appropriate that I take a leave of absence from my position as Ampang PKR Youth chief. I have thus sent a letter to the president and division chief informing them of my stand on this.

"I will continue to help and contribute in the fight against the unjust and oppressive administration of our country by BN, in every way that I can.

"I remain committed to the noble struggle of PKR for a better Malaysia; I will return to active duties in PKR upon acquittal of the charges against me," added the 30-year-old businessman.

Following Rafizi's statements on Adam, there was speculation that the PKR vice-president was taking a shot at Selangor Menteri Besar and PKR number two Azmin Ali.

However, Rafizi had denied this.
