Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad has urged more companies to come forward to report corrupt practices that they might potentially face in their daily business dealings.

"(They should) not just say 'no', but they should also come forward to MACC," Dzulkifli said at a press conference after launching the 'Anti-Corruption Revolution Movement' (Gerah) at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya today.

There are many individuals who lodge reports of corrupt practices with the MACC, but there are not many companies that do so.

Dzulkifli pointed out that companies too can be victims of corruption, so they need to play their role by reporting it to the authorities, as fighting corruption is not only the responsibility of MACC, but also of the community.

Gerah is a once-a-month programme, where MACC officers will meet with members of the public, on the first Monday of each month, to raise awareness of corruption.

About 2,000 MACC officers nationwide will go out to meet with the rakyat during the monthly Gerah programme, he added.

Another programme, called 'Jangan Hulur, Jangan Kawtim, Jangan Settle' (Don't Give, Don't Settle) or the 3Js will be hosted in Petaling Jaya, later today.

This is to urge the people to not only hate corruption, but to take action by refusing to give in to corruption, Dzulkifli said.
