A baby boy believed to be newly born was found abandoned in front of a house in Taman Temerloh Jaya, near Kuantan early today by a member of the public.

Temerloh police chief, ACP Zundin Mahmood said a Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital (Hoshah) personnel reported the baby boy was found unclothed with its umbilical cord attached, by a member of the public at 7.05am.

"An examination of the infant showed a three-centimetre long wound on the head above the ear and the baby was believed born three to four hours before it was found.

"The baby was later brought to Hoshah and given two stitches. We are Investigating to determine the cause of the wound," he said when contacted here today.

Police are now conducting inspections at private and government clinics to track down the suspect.
