Penang gov't backs Ramadan productivity app

While certain quarters have criticised the Penang government of being anti-Islam and anti-Malay, state sponsored Yayasan Islam Pulau Pinang (YIPP) has been busy creating a mobile application for Muslims to "keep track of their Ramadan productivity".

Launched on Friday, the application allows Muslims to keep tabs on how much they have contributed to their faith during the fasting month which began on May 27.

So far, more than 1,300 have downloaded the application, which can be found on the Google Store, where Muslims all over the world can keep a checklist, among others, on their Terawih prayers, fasting and zakat payment.

"It helps us improve our productivity each Ramadan, as we strive to be better than previous years," said YIPP manager Mohd Fitri Ibrahim.
