Abasir: Former de facto law minister Zaid Ibrahim is right when he says that his attempt to get a court order to reveal Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's bank accounts statements is to help the latter clear his name.

Everyone in Umno should be clamouring to get those bank statements out in the open to prove once and for all that there is no truth to the allegations by the scurrilous opposition.

But not when there is so much to hide and not when everyone in Umno knows that doing so will expose the alleged theft and reveal the conspiracy.

Anonymous 2336891439170985: If I had been accused of receiving illegal money into my bank account, the first thing I would do is to show my bank statements and bank account books to the public so as to prove my innocence - that is, if the accusation against me is false.

If I had actually been dishonest and had stolen a big sum of money, I would employ lawyers to try to convince the court that I need not show my bank statement or bank account book.

Why? Apparently Najib is using the money to finance many of them. Once it is proven ‘halal’, they would not worry about spending the money.

Don’t Just Talk: Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, you called for the attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali to prove that the 1MDB funds still exist.

However, so long as MO1 remains the prime minister and Umno holds on to political power, there is nothing Malaysians can do about the 1MDB scandal. The reason is pretty obvious: he is untouchable and remains above the law.

Mahathir, the horses have already bolted from the stable. According to the US Department of Justice, they have frozen millions from financier Jho Low's funds and properties.

As for the rest of the money, every literate Malaysian knows where it has gone to, except for Umno and BN members.

Clongviews: Mahathir and Pakatan Harapan must be united and work very hard to win the 14th general election to expose all the wrongdoings - 1MDB, SRC and other misuses of funds.

There are many honest civil servants and top leaders who have knowledge of all these but are too scared to spill the beans.

We cannot blame them because they are also human.

CQ Muar: Apandi, among other things, can you explain, in plain language, as to why must the RM2.6 billion, which you claimed was a donation from the Saudi royal family, be returned to the donor?

Wasn't such an act considered an insult to the Saudi family since it was a donation?

All you needed to do was to provide the name of the royal family, and other forms of evidence to support your claim, including the reason for parting with such a massive sum.

There's got to be a purpose or reason for such fabulous sums to be given away, right, Apandi?

Surely you and your allegedly corrupted boss (MO1) should understand that Malaysians are not so gullible as to buy your bag of lies, do you?

On the other hand, all fingers are pointing at MO1 for the alleged theft. You are all at liberty to sue anyone for such scathing, malicious accusations, so why haven’t you?

Thana55: Mahathir hit the nail on the head. Singapore has done what it needs to do. It has delivered a strong message of guilt.

Negarawan: In a developed and well-managed countries like Singapore, Najib and Apandi would possibly been incarcerated in prison by now.

In Malaysia, the rakyat still have to beg them to take action? This is truly a failed nation.

Najib should be first to take lie-detector test, says Kit Siang

Vijay47: People would criticise DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang for his proposal that Najib be the first person to take a polygraph test, in response to chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa's statement that the government is studying the possibility of using the polygraph test as a mechanism to help curb cases of corruption among civil servants.

They would claim that he is not supporting this innovative idea of using a polygraph machine to discourage and detect corruption. It would thus be unfair and discriminatory to demand that Najib should be subject to a lie-detector test.

I agree. So to make things fairer, I would suggest that all members of parliament and state assemblymen, the chief secretary to the government, heads of government-linked corporations and bodies like the Attorney-General’s Chambers, the police force, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, and the Elections Commission undergo the same testing.

The management of the probe should obviously lie with persons of integrity and since such creatures may be extinct in Malaysia, we can always turn to personalities from outside the country.
