The mufti for Selangor and the Federal Territories (FT) yesterday met in the latter's office in Putrajaya amid allegations of "deviation".
FT mufti Zulkifli Mohamad was accused of "deviation" by the preacher and Pertubuhan Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah Malaysia (Aswaja) president Zamihan Mat Zin while delivering a paper in Selangor recently.
However, Selangor mufti Mohd Tamyes Abd Wahid said the meeting with Zulkifli has nothing to do with the allegations.
"We only discussed the officiation of the refurbished Masjid Jamek, that is all," he told Malaysiakini.
"I urge all to assume the best in this month of Ramadan," he said.
Zamihan reportedly made the claims while presenting the paper "Penyelewangan mufti Wilayah Persekutuan dan kaitannya dengan ajaran Wahabi" (The deviation of the Federal Territories mufti and his relation to Wahabi teachings).
He said the paper was based on his discussion with Zulkifli on Jan 19. The discussion was also attended by officers from the Islamic Affairs Department, he said.
Zulkifli had last Saturday said he was willing to meet with Zamihan to sort out what he believed to be a misunderstanding.
Malaysiakini has contacted Zulkifli for comment.
