Mahathir-Apandi spat takes religious turn

Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has challenged attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali to swear on the Quran that reports by the authorities did not implicate Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of wrongdoing with regards to the RM2.6 billion found in the latter's bank accounts.

Mahathir said this in response to Apandi's claim that he did not conceal evidence regarding the matter nor the 1MDB affair. Apandi also said he had nothing to hide and feared only Allah and no one else.

Mahathir said that Apandi does not fear Allah because he did not declassify reports by Bank Negara, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the auditor-general in relations to the matter...
