Pakatan Harapan has fixed Padang Timur in Petaling Jaya as the venue for its “Sayangi Malaysia, Hapuskan Kleptorasi (Love Malaysia, Destroy Kleptocracy)” rally scheduled for Oct 14.

This was announced by Harapan leaders during a press conference in Parliament this afternoon.

When asked, Pakatan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad said “tens of thousands” are expected to attend.

The rally is in response to the third and latest series of civil forfeiture suits lodged by the US Department of Justice last month in relation to the 1MDB scandal.

Previously, DAP lawmaker Tony Pua said the rally hopes to provide the public with a better understanding of the 1MDB issue.

“This will be the biggest rally to explain the 1MDB issue, especially to the rural folks,” he had added.

The rally is expected to be attended by PKR, DAP, Amanah, Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM), and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).

Parti Warisan Sabah has also voiced support for the event.

However, the electoral reform group Bersih has yet to decide whether to attend the rally, while PAS claimed that it had not received any invitation.
