Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad sarcastically agreed with the criticisms about development projects undertaken during his 22-year administration.

In a 43-second video posted to his Facebook, Mahathir was asked to respond to accusations that he did not do any development projects during his tenure as prime minister.

“It is true that I did not do anything. I didn’t build buildings or roads.

“All of those were done by the workers. I didn’t do anything. Not one brick was put in by me. It was all the workers,” he quipped in the video.

Previously, Mahathir had said that his administration had built the foundations used by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s administration to improve public transportation.

This had been met with brickbats by pro-Umno bloggers, who had accused Mahathir of having “failed miserably” by privatising public transport and bailing when they did not work out.

Najib had also taken a veiled swipe at Mahathir during the launch of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang (SBK) MRT line, saying that the SBK line was completed ahead of schedule because the contract was not given to cronies.

Besides the SBK line, the Najib-administration has also extended the Kelana Jaya and Ampang LRT lines, besides planning two further MRT lines, the East Coast Rail Link and a high-speed rail from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur.

The Kelana Jaya and Ampang LRT lines were built during Mahathir’s tenure as prime minister.
