For Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia, the 1MDB issue was done and over with once the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) completed its investigations on the state investment firm. 

However, he said there is nothing to stop the PAC from reopening the probe. 

"If they want to investigate again there is no procedure that can stop them," Pandikar said at a press conference in the Parliament press conference room today. 

The PAC had completed its probe into 1MDB in April last year, which among others found a lack of proof that millions in payments from 1MDB had made it to the accounts of Abu Dhabi's Aabar.

PAC deputy chairperson Tan Seng Giaw had said at the time that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was not directly involved in 1MDB based on the committee's findings.

During his press conference today, Pandikar took out his phone to show a video of Tan's remarks.

"(According to Tan) there is no linking the prime minister to 1MDB.

"As far as Parliament is concerned that has already been investigated," the speaker said.

He said the only matter that could not be discussed in Parliament was matters labelled as government secrets.

The auditor-general report on 1MDB, which was part of the PAC probe, had been classified under the Official Secrets Act.

There have been calls for it to be declassified, but until it is no longer a secret, Pandikar said debating it would be a violation of the standing orders.
