Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said the appointment of Chief Secretary to the Government, Ali Hamsa to the United Nations (UN) Committee of Experts on Public Administration (Cepa) is a recognition of Malaysia's policies that stress on inclusiveness.

He congratulated Ali over his appointment as a member of the committee for the 2018-2021 term.

"Congratulations Dr Ali Hamsa! Your appointment to the UN Committee of Experts on Public Admin(istration) is a recognition of Malaysia's inclusive policies," Najib said on Twitter.

Ali is the first Malaysian to be appointed by the august body as a member of UN Cepa since its inception, according to the Prime Minister's Office.

The appointment was confirmed by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc) at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday.

The UN Cepa was established by the Ecosoc and comprise 24 members who meet annually at the UN headquarters.

The committee is responsible for supporting the work of Ecosoc concerning the promotion and development of public administration and governance among member states.
