DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang surprised attendees at a Harapan fundraising dinner in Kluang tonight when he turned up with a plaster over his head.

However, Lim used the opportunity to emphasise his commitment towards political struggle.

Lim said he had sustained the injury on his head from a physical fall, but added that the same would not happen politically.

"Many who have read the news asked if I am able to continue the struggle. Yes, I fell down, but I will not fall (be defeated politically).

"I want to tell all Malaysians that I will not be defeated," he told the dinner attendees in Chinese.

"The same goes with my party, we will not give up easily. We will press on until we succeed," he added.

Lim explained that he suffered a fall while exercising in Petaling Jaya on Thursday morning.

Despite this, Lim said he had still attended Parliament the same day.

In his speech, he called for Kluang to be a catalyst for political change.

He said that while urban centres had seen a political tsunami, the same is required in more rural areas in the next general election to make a change of government possible.

Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad was also supposed to attend the fundraising dinner tonight, but could not turn up as he was ill.

However, Mahathir urged those present to support Harapan's fundraising efforts in a pre-recorded message.
