A DAP lawmaker was ejected from Dewan Rakyat today after continuing to press the Dewan Rakyat to initiate a debate on a payment default by 1MDB to the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC).

Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut), who was told that his motion had been turned down by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia via a letter earlier today, had brought up the matter during a later sitting. 

Deputy speaker Ismail Mohamed Said who was chairing the sitting nonetheless declined to entertain him, saying that Pandikar had made a decision. 

He asked Lip Eng to sit down and put the matter aside. He also warned that he would take action against the DAP lawmaker to ensure that other matters could be addressed at the meeting.

Lip Eng, however, proceeded to read out the contents of the letter that Pandikar had sent him. 

"Security, please execute your duty," ordered Ismail. 

Following Lip Eng's ejection, DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang (DAP-Gelah Patah) accused Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia of being complicit in a  "financial scam" related to the 1MDB-IPIC settlement.

"Why, in this House, does the speaker want to become part of the financial scam. This is the financial scam involving the executive and the prime minister."

Kit Siang expressed anger that Parliament repeatedly ignored and turned down questions related to 1MDB and pointed out that lawmakers have no other avenues to seek answers.

"The speaker said there is no way to challenge his decision, unless via a review. But, when a review is brought up, it is not debated (in the House).

"The speaker and the minister have the responsibility to respond to this motion," he stressed.

Speaking to reporters later, Kit Siang jokingly said he is scared of being barred from the August House again.

"I am afraid," he laughed.

In Oct 2015, Kit Siang was suspended for six months after being cited for contempt by the speaker.
