Pakatan Harapan MPs may be demanding a meeting with Arul Kanda Kandasamy but PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said his party may have landed a briefing with the 1MDB president and CEO due to its matured politics.

"Perhaps Arul was ready to meet with PAS because PAS practices are matured and of a harmonious political culture, not the politics of 'slander first, pay later'.

"This sets PAS apart from the other opposition parties.

"There is a distinction between seeking solutions and seeking publicity," Tuan Ibrahim said in a statement.

Yesterday, Tuan Ibrahim said he was satisfied with the 1MDB rationalisation plan after PAS leaders received a briefing from Arul.

Tuan Ibrahim likened the 1MDB scandal to spilled milk, pointing out that whatever happens to the perpetrators, Malaysians would still be saddled by its debts.

"Even if a new government is formed after the 14th general election and all those involved in the misappropriation (of 1MDB funds) are arrested and jailed, the people and new government must still bear the debt that the government has guaranteed and approved by those in power today," he said.

Tuan Ibrahim said Arul, during the briefing, said the rationalisation plan now was all that it could do to ensure 1MDB does not ask for further fund injection from the government.

"If the 1MDB rationalisation plan fails and if 1MDB is late in paying its debt, it will cause the cost of interest to increase to over US$1.9 billion a year, which has to be borne by the government, regardless of whether there is a change of government or not in the 14th general election," he said.

Ultimately, Tuan Ibrahim said, it would be the government and people who would suffer, not those who had missproripated 1MDB funds.

"Even if their assets are seized, it will not be enough to pay 1MDB's debt," he said.

However, Tuan Ibrahim said, PAS' position after the briefing remained unchanged, and that the party insists that a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) be held into the 1MDB scandal.

He also urged the Finance Ministry provide regular updates to Parliament with regard to 1MDB's assets, the bulk of which have been transferred to the government.
