PARLIAMENT | PAS approached 1MDB's Arul Kanda Kandasamy for answers on the investment fund after the party's parliamentary queries on the matter had been rejected.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, who is Kota Bahru MP, said six of the party's questions on 1MDB were rejected.

"That is why, outside this House, we sought an explanation from 1MDB, directly from its president (Arul Kanda Kandasamy).

"It was our luck that he responded," Takiyuddin told the Lower House today.

PAS had met with Arul Kanda at the party's headquarters on Monday, to get a briefing on 1MDB.

Takiyuddin was responding to Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Segambut), who had wanted action to be taken against Arul Kanda for "belittling" speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia.

Lim said Arul Kanda had defied Pandikar's ruling that questions on 1MDB were sub judice.

However, deputy speaker Ronald Kiandee explained that the ruling only applied within the Dewan Rakyat.

Two weeks ago, the opposition made a ruckus in the Lower House after more than 30 1MDB-related questions were rejected.

Pandikar objected to the opposition's claims, saying that at least 19 questions on 1MDB had been allowed to be asked.

He explained that the other questions were rejected due to numerous reasons, including sub judice, and for being based on assumption or being ill-intended.
