Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's wife Rosmah Mansor has denied allegations that she was pressuring the government to give more money to Permata.

The Permata patron also denied allegations that the funds would be used for her own personal gain.

"Don't be like the opposition. (DAP Seputeh MP) Teresa Kok said I wanted to ask for money.

"I would never ask for money. (But) if we want to do anything, you need money.

"If we don't have money how can we do it? For example, if you want to buy flour to make kuih (confections) you need money," Rosmah was quoted as saying by Free Malaysia Today.

She was speaking at a Permata Perkasa Youth Day event in Kuala Lumpur today.

Last week Rosmah had said that Permata's budget was too small for some of its plans. 

However, she said that the foundation could convince Finance Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is her husband, to give them a bigger budget.

It is unclear what Kok had said in response to this news.

In her speech today, Rosmah stressed that she was not in charge of Permata funds.

"I don't hold on to (Permata's) money. Not even one sen. I don't see the money.

"All the planning and financial management is done by the (Permata) secretariat," she said.
