Survey: Over 70pct of S'gor residents satisfied with state gov't
A total of 72 percent or 8,640 respondents representing Selangor residents have expressed satisfaction with the overall performance of the state government.
This was based on the findings of a Merdeka Center survey that polled 12,001 respondents from Jan 23 to June 29, Selangor exco in charge of local councils Ean Yong Hian Wah told a press conference at the state secretariat building in Shah Alam today.
“Overall, the satisfaction of the people towards the state government of Selangor has improved,” Ean Yong noted, citing the last survey results from 2015 which recorded a 67 percent satisfaction rate.
At the same time, he said, the new survey also recorded a 74 percent satisfaction rate on the performances of all 12 local councils in Selangor, up from 63 percent in 2015...

At the same time, he said, the new survey also recorded a 74 percent satisfaction rate on the performances of all 12 local councils in Selangor, up from 63 percent in 2015.
The survey polled 1,000 residents living within 11 local councils and 1,001 residents from the Subang Jaya Municipal Council.
There was no survey conducted last year but the Seri Kembangan assemblyperson later told Malaysiakini that there was no specific reason for the gap year, with the first survey conducted in 2014.
Of the 12 local councils, Ean Yong said, the survey findings showed that Petaling Jaya City Council residents showed the most improvement, with a 18 percent increase in their overall satisfaction rate.
The 12 local councils also represented two city councils, six municipal councils and four district councils.
Moving forward, Ean Yong said the state government would be focusing on three main issues raised by the respondents - providing and maintaining public facilities, waste management and public safety.
“For next year’s budget, I will propose to the state to focus on providing more recreational parks in residential areas, and also pothole issues,” he said.
Of the 12,001 respondents, half of the group were men while the other half women, representing a racial breakdown of 54 percent Malay, 30 percent Chinese and 16 percent Indian.
Respondents aged between 31 and 40 represented the largest cohort of 29 percent or 3,480 people.
