The PKR's Youth wing, Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK), in Kelantan has called for the resignation of its chief Hafidz Rizal Amran.

In a statement, Kelantan AMK vice-chief Mohd Khairul Amin Ab Rahman said the majority of AMK divisions in the state have signed a memorandum urging Hafidz to quit as he had "lost the support of the majority of AMK leaders in Kelantan".

"Therefore, we urge national Youth chief Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad (photo at the top) to appoint a new state AMK chief.

"Besides, the Kelantan AMK is fully behind the leadership of party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and will support any form of decision taken by the party's central leadership. We are also firmly in support of state PKR chief Ab Aziz Ab Kadir," the statement said.

"We would also like to declare our full commitment and cooperation with Kelantan Amanah Youth and state Armada of the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

"In the spirit of brotherhood among the Pakatan Harapan Youth wings in Kelantan, we will work tirelessly to topple the kleptocratic BN government."

Although the AMK statement did not state the reason behind the call for Hafidz's ouster, Malay daily Berita Harian reported that it is believed because he is seen as close to the PAS administration in Kelantan.

'He has lost the majority of support'

"Hafidz is more intent on keeping his political appointment as the state assembly coordinator for the state seat of Kuala Balah, when the majority of AMK in Kelantan have stopped working with PAS in the state.

"Therefore, he has lost the majority of support from those representing AMK Kelantan," the daily reported, quoting a source from the Youth wing.

PAS severed its political ties with PKR at its muktamar earlier this year but PKR representatives have refused to step down from their positions in the PAS-led Kelantan state government.

Earlier, Sinar Harian had quoted Kelantan PKR communications chief Mohd Sukirman Mustafa as denying there was a memorandum asking for its state chairperson Aziz to quit.

Mohd Sukirman reportedly said that PKR divisions in Kelantan were still in support of the leadership and the "fake" letter claiming otherwise was meant to portray a negative image of the party in the state.

The memorandum reportedly listed 10 of Ab Aziz's purported failures and gave three reasons why he should resign. It was supposedly circulated through the instant messaging service WhatsApp and through social media channels.
