PKR has suspended former Kapar MP S Manikavasagam's membership for two years, for slandering party de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

According to the suspension letter, Manikavasagam was suspended for accusing Anwar of accepting RM300,000 - RM400,000 cash from Oms Thiagarajan to not nominate him (as the candidate for Kapar).

The letter said Manikavasagam had uttered the remarks in a speech at a temple in Kapar on April 8 this year.

The former MP uploaded a copy of the suspension letter, which he said was sent to him on WhatsApp, on his Facebook page.

PKR secretary general Saifuddin Nasution confirmed with Malaysiakini that he issued the letter today.

Saifuddin said Manikavasagam had been probed by the party's disciplinary board, who then recommended the PKR political bureau to suspend him, a decision which the bureau affirmed.

However, Saifuddin said he is not privy to the details of the disciplinary case.

Malaysiakini is attempting to contact Manikavasagam for comment.

The letter said that the former MP has 14 days to appeal his suspension.
