Bank Negara's former governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz and ex-advisor Nor Mohamed Yakcop testified today at the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the central bank's forex losses in the 1990s.

Zeti and Nor Mohamed are among the key witnesses identified in the hearing after their names were mentioned by few witnesses who have already testified.

Also expected to appear today, the sixth day of RCI hearing, is former attorney-general Ainum Mohamed Saaid.

Others to be called included former Zeti's predecessor Ahmad Don, former auditor-general Hadenan Abdul Jalil and jailed PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

Bank Negara accounts manager Abdul Aziz Abdul Manaf, the first witness of the hearing, claimed that the central bank had suffered RM31.516 billion losses.

Meanwhile, former Bank Negara deputy governor Lin See Yan confirmed that Nor Mohamed was then the chief dealer of forex trading and had reported directly to the then governor.

RCI hearing is scheduled to take place today and tomorrow this week. Proceedings will resume on Sept 18, 19, 20 and 21.
