Selangor Pakatan Harapan has decided that it will adhere to the central leadership's decision on ties with PAS.

"We took the stand to adhere to the national Harapan position," Selangor Harapan secretary Zuraida Kamaruddin told Malaysiakini.

Asked if this meant that Selangor Harapan would not cooperate with PAS, Zuraida reiterated that they would adhere to the national stand on the matter.

Another Harapan source confirmed the state leadership's decision.

The Harapan central leadership had on Aug 29 declared that the coalition would not cooperate with PAS in the 14th general election (GE14).

Selangor Harapan chief Azmin Ali, who is seen as a major proponent of talks with PAS, had said that he would adhere to the central leadership's decision.

However, he had previously said that he is still free to "talk" to anyone.

Despite the Harapan leadership council's decision on the matter, Azmin's party PKR is still deeply divided on the issue, with some still advocating talks with PAS.
