BN Youth hands memo to UN over Rohingya crisis

BN Youth today urged the UN to take immediate action with regard to what it referred to as the escalating humanitarian crisis faced by the Rohingya in Myanmar.

Its deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun said the UN should hold an emergency special session to come up with urgent recommendations to address the humanitarian plight of the Rohingya in the Rakhine State in Myanmar and permanently resolve the issue.

"We want the UN to establish a peacekeeping operation in Rakhine state with the purpose of urgently restoring peace and security, especially to facilitate the immediate flow of aid for the Rohingya," he told reporters after handing over a memorandum of demand to the UN Resident Coordinator, Stefan Priesner, at Wisma UN in Kuala Lumpur today.

Khairul Azwan said BN Youth believed that the UN would be able to take action immediately in the matter.
