The home minister should call for a discussion involving politicians from across the divide as well as NGOs to find a solution to the drug menace faced by the country, said opposition leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail today.

In light of the Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz school fire, where some of the arsonists were allegedly high on drugs, she noted authorities should not only concentrate on the seven youths, but the ills that lie beyond the incident.

"First of all, kudos to the police and the fire department for solving the case fast, and it is now up to the judiciary to determine who’s guilty, and pass sentences befitting the crime.

“We also appreciate the staff of the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (which treated survivors and handled the remains of the deceased), and all the other parties who assisted,” she said in a statement...
