Amanah president Mohamad Sabu said he was confident of winning even if he was fielded in the PAS bastion of Kelantan or Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's constituency of Pekan.
"I think there is a chance to win anywhere, including in Kelantan and Pekan," he told a press conference at the Amanah headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, was asked to respond to speculation that he may be fielded in the parliamentary seat of Kota Raja and the state seat of Taman Templer.
The speculation came after Selangor Amanah proposed that Mohamad contest in the state.
However, Mohamad was non-committal, stating that the final decision lies with the party.
He added there were many quarters requesting that he contest at different places.
"The request (for me to contest) has been made by Amanah in Selangor, Kedah and Penang, so the party will make the final decision.
"The party will evaluate on where I will be suitable to contest in my capacity as party president and I will comply with the party's decision," he said.
On a separate matter, Mohamad joked about inviting journalists to his home to cook for them.
This was after former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife Siti Hasmah visited Mohamad for dinner.
"He (Mahathir) was smiling all the while until he went home," he said.
