Kota Belud flood eases, evacuation centre closes

The flood evacuation centre at Tun Said Community Hall in Kota Belud, which was opened last night to accommodate 12 people from five families , was closed at 10 am today.

Sabah Malaysian Civil Defence Force director Mohd Izaimi Md Daud said the department would however continue to monitor the situation in the Kota Belud district.

“The water at Sungai Kadamaian and Sungai Tempasuk has receded to below the danger level as at 10.30 am today, while in Sungai Abai, the water is at warning level, but receding,” he said.

Sungai Kadamaian, Sungai Tempasuk and Sungai Abai are the three main rivers in Kota Belud.

He said Jalan Kampung Bobot and Jalan Siasai Tamu which were closed last night due to the floods, were now passable to all vehicles.

Continuous rain caused flooding in 13 villages in Kota Belud yesterday.
