For some PAS faithful, heeding the call to attend the Fastaqim 2.0 rally meant having to rough it out in tents.

Yesterday evening, at least 30 tents dotted the Tok Jembal beach in Kuala Nerus, Kaula Terengganu, where the rally will take place today.

For Mohald Fazil Abdullah, 37, camping helps him and his family of seven forge relationships with fellow party members.

"We also chose to set up camp so we can be close to the venue. It makes it easier for us to attend events and not having to deal with the traffic jams," said the man from Kuantan, Pahang.

Fastaqim 2.0 is a two-day rally which began yesterday and is aimed at gathering 200,000 people.

Although the highlight of the event is a speech by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang tomorrow night, it is unlike traditional PAS events because it features family-friendly events such as games, automobile shows and stage performances, among others.

The first Fastaqim, or "Rise up", saw PAS supporters filling the Stadium Sultan Muhammad IV in Kota Bharu to the brim in October 2015, months after the break-up of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition.

This time round, Fastaqim 2.0 is expected to be another massive show of force as PAS aims to go into the general election without an alliance with main opposition parties.
