Lodge report on bribe offer, Penang CM tells Syed Saddiq
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman should lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission if he was offered a bribe by a minister's aide, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said today.
That would be the appropriate thing to do for Syed Saddiq, who had rejected a scholarship to further his studies for a Master’s degree at Oxford University, so that he could focus on the next general election, Lim said.

However, he is unfazed by Syed Saddiq's (photo) claim that he was offered a bribe to switch political camps.
"I am not surprised by the allegation, but under the law, it is required that he lodges a report with the MACC if he has been offered a bribe," said Lim, who is DAP secretary-general.
Lim, who is also a Pakatan Harapan deputy president, asked why the media failed to report on the identity of the minister's aide who allegedly tried to offer Syed Saddiq a RM5 million bribe to leave Bersatu.
At a press conference held in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, Syed Saddiq also claimed threats were made against his family if he continued his political career with Bersatu, which was formed by, among others, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Mahathir, who is Pakatan Harapan's chairperson, formed the party with sacked former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and his son, former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir.
"The media should expose the person who tried to bribe Syed Saddiq, as we all want to know who he is," Lim quipped after his press conference at Komtar.
