Johor ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar will meet state officials every Wednesday to ensure the people benefit from development projects undertaken by the state government.

The ruler has designated Wednesdays as “open days” for officials to brief and update him on developments in Johor, according to a Facebook posting today.

"This is to ensure development projects by the Johor state government and its agencies truly benefit the people," read the post.

The meeting between the ruler and the heads of the department and government officials will be conducted at the Mados Office, located within the grounds of Istana Bukit Pelangi, Johor Bahru.

"Sultan Ibrahim will go through various documents or presentations given to him, especially those relating to development programmes and initiatives for the people," read the post.

Earlier today, the ruler met Johor Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Johor Council of Royal Court president Abdul Rahim Ramli; Johor Islamic Affairs Council adviser Noh Gadut; Johor Bahru mayor A Rahim Nin and Johor Public Works Department director Mohd Salleh Abu Bakar.

In 2014, Sultan Ibrahim reportedly said he would not interfere in matters of the state for the sake of people's happiness.

His statement came amid amendments to the Johor Housing and Property Board Bill, which empowered the ruler to appoint four members to the board, but only on the advice of the menteri besar.
