Gerakan Youth chief Andy Yong has ticked off Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki for unilaterally declaring the country's commitment to becoming an Islamic state.

"BN was formed with the combination of 13 component parties to represent all Malaysians including minorities.

"Asyraf’s claim was never a part of BN’s founding vision or mission and it never will be," Yong said in a statement today.

Yong said there is no consensus in BN about Malaysia being an Islamic state.
