Preacher Zamihan Mat Zin has urged Muslims to focus their attention on the attempts to "destroy" Islam by others instead of criticising each other.

"I urge everyone to stop instigating quarrels among Muslims and focus on the threats and lies by those who are enemies of Islam such as Wahabi, Syiah, liberals and other deviant teachings.

"They will rejoice when Muslims fight among themselves and are not united," he said in a statement today.

This follows the decision of the Selangor Council of the Royal Court to strip Zamihan of his accreditation to preach in the state and to remove him from the Selangor Tauliah Committee.

The council had done so in view of Zamihan's recent inflammatory lecture at a mosque in Shah Alam where he criticised an unnamed ruler and two state mufti for their objections to laundrettes that are exclusive to Muslims.

His speech also saw him claiming that Muslims cannot share laundrettes with non-Muslims because their clothes might be tainted by "najis" (filth).

Meanwhile, Zamihan said in his statement today that he apologised to the Selangor ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah "if" he was upset over the lecture.

"I am a commoner with no intention of insulting the royal institution. I was only preaching the sunnah and speaking about Islamic laws.

"I will continue my service in places and ways which are appropriate. (The pursuit) of the truth and the (our) struggle for dakwah (preach Islam) will never stop until the apocalypse," he said.
