Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said he will seek a review of Olympic Council of Malaysia's decision to not bid for the rights to host Commonwealth Games 2022.

Following Malaysia's success in organising the SEA Games 2017, Khairy said Malaysia must now look at hosting bigger events, according to Bernama.

"The Olympic Games may be too big for the time being and the Asian Games will cost too much unless the Olympic Council of Asia reduces the cost of organising it and the one which can still be considered is the Commonwealth Games.

"We have hosted it a while ago, and whether we want to host it again, I have to talk with the prime minister first," he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Khairy was responding to the Olympic Council of Malaysia's decision to stay out of the bid, which has been extended to Nov 30.

Thus far, the only official bid was made by Birmingham, UK.
