A two-man protest calling for justice for the late Teoh Beng Hock came to an abrupt end earlier today when police arrested the duo.

Teoh Beng Hock Trust for Democracy executive director Ng Yap Hwa and member Tong Wai Yee staged their protest this afternoon outside Wisma Huazong in Seri Kembangan, Selangor as Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak was about to leave the venue.

Najib was at Wisma Huazong for a TN50 dialogue.

Ng in a statement said the pair, who were not allowed into the Wisma Huazong premises, were chanting slogans briefly before police moved in.

"We were standing peacefully and chanting the slogans 'Justice for Beng Hock', 'Charge MACC officers'... but less than 15 seconds (later) police tore down our placards and violently pushed us 50 meters away from the entrance,' he said.

He said the pair were then detained and brought to the Kajang district police headquarters.

Ng and Tong were later released at 4pm.

Kajang police chief Ahmad Dzaffir Yusoff confirmed that the pair were temporarily detained.

However, Ahmad said police will not be investigating Ng and Tong.

"There is no investigation. We just took down their particulars," he told Malaysiakini.

Teoh was the political aide to Seri Kembangan assemblyperson Ean Yong Hian Wah.

He was found dead after falling nine floors from MACC's previous Selangor headquarters on July 16, 2009, where he had been held overnight for interrogation. 

The Court of Appeal had ruled in 2014 that Teoh had died of a fall that could have been accelerated by unlawful actions of persons unknown, including by MACC officers, and ordered the police to investigate.

Following the verdict, MACC agreed to pay RM600,000 to Teoh's family to settle a negligence suit they brought against the organisation.

However, the Attorney-General's Chambers said that it found no criminal elements in Teoh's death.
