Parti Warisan Sabah president Mohd Shafie Apdal has been discharged from hospital and is now in MACC's lock-up in Kota Kinabalu to continue his remand period.

This was confirmed by one of his counsels and Warisan secretary-general Loretto Padua Jr.

Loretto said the Warisan president will co-operate with the probe despite still being on medication.

"He is ok and still under medication...He will facilitate with the investigation," said Loretto.

He also confirmed that Shafie was brought to his home in Kota Kinabalu for a search by the MACC this afternoon.

Nothing was seized during the search, Loretto told Malaysiakini.

The MACC secured a four-day remand yesterday against Shafie. He had been arrested at 9pm on Thursday night, four hours after he voluntarily turned up for questioning at the agency's Sabah headquarters in Kota Kinabalu.

Shafie arrived yesterday at the Kota Kinabalu courthouse in an ambulance after being warded overnight at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital to treat his high blood pressure.

Previously, MACC had also arrested two of Shafie's younger brothers and a number of Warisan leaders in its probe into the alleged misappropriation of at least RM1.5 billion in rural development funds intended for Sabah.

The RM1.5 billion allegedly siphoned came from a total of RM7.5 billion in funds reportedly allocated for rural projects in Sabah over a six-year period.

MACC is probing some 60 companies that were awarded projects for the supply of water, electricity, and roads to help people in rural Sabah.

Shafie held the rural and regional development ministry portfolio from 2009 to 2015. He has denied involvement in the scandal.
