Attorney-general Mohamed Apandi Ali has lodged a police report against blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin for criminal defamation.

Apandi, when contacted by Malaysiakini, confirmed via text message that the report was lodged three days ago.

"It’s for criminal defamation," he said without elaborating.

Raja Petra, better known as RPK, published an article in two parts titled "Strong Rumours Surrounding the AG", which alleges corruption involving Apandi when he served as a Federal Court judge.

It was reported two days ago that Apandi was contemplating filing a lawsuit against RPK.

One of the allegations made by Raja Petra in the article was that Apandi was involved in an act of corruption.

Apandi denied the allegation, calling it "fake news".

"It is all rubbish and highly defamatory. I intend to sue the writer till kingdom come.

"I am seriously going to sue and I am consulting my lawyer friends in the United Kingdom. This is nothing but fake news done with evil intention," the AG was quoted as saying in The Star.
