Shahrizat: Azmin daydreaming if he thinks Budget 2018 copied S'gor

Wanita Umno chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil today refuted a claim by Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali that parts of the 2018 Budget tabled by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak yesterday were ideas taken from the Selangor budget.

Regarding Azmin as daydreaming, Shahrizat said the 2018 Budget contained genuine and constructive ideas which could be implemented comprehensively for all levels of the society in the country.

“We did not copy Selangor, (on the other hand) it is Selangor that often copied the federal government,”  she told reporters after opening the ‘Pasarnita Kuala Lumpur Wedding Fest’ programme at Hotel Premiera today.

Azmin was reported to have claimed that the Malaysian Children’s Trust Fund 2050 (Adam50) programme announced under the 2018 Budget was similar to the Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (Tawas) which was set up by the Selangor government on Aug 30, 2008 for children born in Selangor.

When announcing the budget yesterday, the prime minister said that every Malaysian child born from Jan 1, 2018 until 2022, would be presented with an initial saving fund of RM200 via a Ttust fund unit at Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).

Shahrizat also advised women to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the government in all sectors through the 2018 Budget.

“Women should not limit their opportunities only to packages specific for women. We must take advantage of all the packages announced in the budget,” she said.

She thanked the prime minister on the announcement of the comprehensive incentive for women in the 2018 Budget.

Meanwhile, more than 50 vendors, including big names in the industry such as Rizman Ruzaini, Minaz Creation and Rico Rinaldi took part in the three-day wedding festival programme organised by TerraJuta.
