Police have resubmitted their investigation paper into 1MDB to the Attorney-General's Chambers, said Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. 

"The police's investigation paper into 1MDB had been submitted several times to the AGC and returned (to the cops) with the instruction to investigate further.

"Police have carried out an investigation, as instructed by the AGC, and referred the investigation paper back to the AGC.

"Up until now, they (police) are awaiting further instructions from the AGC," Zahid told Tony Pua (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara) in a parliamentary written reply dated Nov 2.

The AGC had on Oct 24 rejected the police's investigation paper on 1MDB, due to the lack of evidence. 

Pua had asked for an update on the police's probe into Shahrol Azral Ibrahim Hilmi, the former CEO of 1MDB, and other management officials of the state fund, as proposed by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). 

"Has the case been closed, and no party found guilty?" Pua had asked. 

In April 2016, PAC tabled the 106-page 1MDB governance management control report in the Dewan Rakyat.

The committee, comprising BN and opposition members of Parliament, suggested among others, that the authorities investigate Shahrol and parties involved in the management of the government-owned strategic investment company.

The police formed an investigation team to probe the matter under Section 409 of Penal Code for criminal breach of trust and Section 420 for cheating.

On April 12, the then inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar claimed that the police had completed their probe into the state-owned entity, and submitted the investigation paper to the AGC.

In June, however, Khalid claimed that the attorney-general had instructed police to further probe the issue, adding that as it was a civil case, "police would not interfere".

A month before the AGC rejected the investigation paper, then newly-minted police chief Mohamad Fuzi Harun had said that the probe had been completed, and that there was no need for for the matter to be investigated further.
