Health Minister Dr S Subramaniam has revealed the status of several "sick" hospital development projects.

"Sick" projects refer to projects where development work is late by two months, or 20 percent of the set schedule, whereby the contractor is unable to improve its performance.

Subramaniam was responding to a written parliamentary question from Pengkalan Chepa MP Izani Husin, who asked for the causes of "sick" hospital development projects.

Among the factors for the delays, Subramaniam said, were lack of workers, changes due to site conditions, weak development management strategy by the contractors, construction work that does not follow the plan and incompetent contractors and sub-contractors...
