Police busted a mini laboratory processing syabu (methamphetamine) and arrested five individuals, including a family of three, in two separate raids in Klang last Thursday (Nov 2).

South Klang police chief ACP Shamsul Amar Ramli said the laboratory was operating in a luxury three-storey house that was rented for the purpose in Bandar Botanic, Klang.

“The family comprising a man, his son and his daughter-in-law and another suspect were nabbed at a restaurant in Pandamaran between 1pm and 4.30pm.

“Another male suspect was apprehended in a simultaneous raid at a house in Taman Sejati. The house in which the drug laboratory was located, was raided after all the suspects were arrested,” Shamsul Amar said in Klang yesterday.

He said a room on the ground floor had been renovated to become a drug processing laboratory and among the items confiscated included laboratory equipment and chemicals believed to be used to process syabu.

Also seized, he said, were 3.85kg of meth oil, which could produce 1.5kg of syabu worth about RM110,000 in the market.

Apart from that, Shamsul Amar said police also seized four cars and RM1,600 in cash, as well as four rings belonging to the suspect, valued at about RM450,000.

All the suspects, aged between 18 and 53 were remanded to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added.
