'ROS should assist Bersatu to use Armada, not issue threats'
The Registrar of Societies (ROS), as an independent agency, should assist Bersatu Youth to legally use its chosen moniker, Angkatan Bersatu Anak Muda (Armada), rather than issue threats of possible de-registration of the party.
In making the call, Amanah Youth chief Sany Hamzan said the threat by ROS director-general Surayati Ibrahim, that use of the name Armada was illegal as it does not appear in the party's constitution, was unreasonable.
"The ROS should not have acted in such a manner, as if it wants to further complicate the situation by raising such petty problems," Sany said in a statement.
"On this issue of using the name Armada, ROS should be responsible to assist so that the name can be legally used," he said...

"More so when it is understood that Bersatu had made a formal application but has yet to receive a response from the ROS," Sany said.

Bersatu supreme council member Tariq Ismail (left in photo) yesterday claimed that the ROS had been non-responsive to the party's request to call its Youth wing as "Armada" and women's wing as "Srikandi".
"Bersatu had sent ROS its amended constitution, which included the names for the Armada and Srikandi wings, that was approved by the supreme council in July, but to date, there had not been any response from the ROS," Tariq said in a Facebook post.
Bersatu Youth chief Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman confirmed today that he had received a letter from the ROS, dated Nov 7, informing him that he was being investigated over the name issue.
