Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's claim that the federal government has not extended aid to the state and victims of the recent flood disaster has earned him, among others, a reptilian rebuke.

Livid over the allegation, Penang Umno Youth chief Rafizal Abdul Rahim rained criticism on the DAP leader, branding him a liar and diagnosing him as possibly suffering from a mental disorder or perhaps even having gone blind.

Apart from this, he also likened the chief minister to a “crocodile”.

“This time, Guan Eng is being very insolent... He is like a crocodile... after we have extended aid, he bites our legs,” Rafizal told Umno Online.

He said the chief minister had perhaps become “senile” and therefore forgot that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced 13 flood mitigation projects to avoid the recurrence of devastating floods in Penang.

He pointed out that the federal government had approved RM150 million and is considering an additional allocation as well.

Rafizal said the chief minister also appeared to have forgotten how the federal government mobilised the armed forces to provide assistance when floodwaters ravaged the state on Nov 4 and Nov 5.

“... Or perhaps Guan Eng is very desperate to the point of thinking the people are stupid and can be convinced by spreading lies,” he added.

According to Rafizal, Lim should be “embarrassed” because, as a chief minister, he should not be making “dungu” (idiotic) statements.

“I think Guan Eng has gone blind that he cannot see the help extended by the federal government to help the flood victims.

“... Instead of running down the federal government, it would be better for Guan Eng to think of how to arrest the balding hillslopes in the state due to greed,” he added.

While the floods had been attributed to freak weather conditions, the chief minister's rivals have also pointed out that overdevelopment made the situation worse.
