'Najib, there are more pressing issues than satay sales'

YOURSAY | ‘The prices of satay ingredients have skyrocketed too.’

Najib credits skyrocketing satay sales to his 'infra-rakyat' efforts

Anonymous 1811351504586755: Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak cannot praise himself highly enough in public speeches, ranging from raising durian and satay sales to his own perception of world leaders’ admiration for Malaysia.

The reality is that we are suffering from high inflation and a lack of law and order in daily life as the result of poorly-managed national finances.

The people on the street are not blind and stupid when the pressures of life keep piling up.

Mosquitobrain: Folks, this phenomenal prime minister started with cheap kangkung (water spinach), then RM1 chicken, went on to Musang King durian and now satay.

Doesn't he know that there are more pressing issues that need his prompt attention, besides satay?

VGV: Najib, the praise should come from the rakyat for your "achievements". Take a look at the poor quality medicines given at government hospitals. Yet you are talking about "infra-rakyat" efforts.

The sales of satay have skyrocketed, as you said, but you must understand that the prices of all ingredients to make the satay have also skyrocketed.

So the cost is borne by us when we buy satay.

How are we to afford satay when the prices of essential goods are skyrocketing? I suppose it's "empty talk", Mr Prime Minister.

NNFC: Certainly, give credit where credit is due. We should also perhaps add that Malaysians are struggling to make ends meet because we eat too much satay as well.

Clever Voter: Using all sorts of silly examples to justify the underperforming economy isn't helpful.

The latest prediction of a housing glut is a worry. The construction industry has already complained of delayed payments and decreasing business orders.

The latest increase in oil prices will definitely push inflation rates higher. Consumers had better be braced for a hard landing, as 2018 will see fewer vacancies and more retrenchment.

Wet weather will not be helpful for the BN propaganda machine as they will gear up for more hype and a false sense of good times.

Anonymous 2436471476414726: Najib is so thirsty for personal praise that he has to take credit for the soaring sales of Kajang satay.

Isn't 1MDB also one of your “infra-rakyat” efforts? So tell us, how much debt does 1MDB have? Better still, show us the audited financial reports for 1MDB for the years 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Don't be shy Najib. After all, 1MDB has done a lot of good for the country, as you previously claimed.

By the way, you still have yet to inform the rakyat where you got the funds to make the last payment to IPIC in August 2017 amounting to some US$1.2 billion.

Oh, petrol and diesel prices have also escalated for the third straight week. Is this another of your infra-rakyat efforts?

0007379126933465376: Spending billions of ringgit, only to help increase satay sales?

A leader is supposed to manage the economy holistically and effectively. If the programme benefits the people, subsequently it benefits the economy as a whole.

Anonymous 2460391489930458: This is the best prime minister the world has ever seen.

You single-handedly built the MRT - in fact, you built the MRT much, much earlier than our backward neighbours like Singapore and Thailand.

You made durian world-famous, when just a year ago, no one in his right mind would even touch this inedible fruit.

You made satay sales skyrocket in Kajang, a town that has never been famous for satay.

You are the only prime minister that can make America great again, and what would the US president do without you?

Thank you PM. You’ve made Malaysians so proud.

Minister urges more research into durians because it is 'good for men'

Legit: Look at the quality of Malaysian ministers. A friend told Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek that durian is “good for men”, and he goes to Parliament and repeats the claim.

Why doesn't he ask for scientific research to be done first, and if proven, make this pronouncement if he wants to?

Anonymous 2413471460628504: What a waste of Parliament's time! Proper questions are not allowed but they can talk about durians.

Anonymous 2389191448860311: I'd rather you conduct research on why there aren't any more worms in the durian fruit these days as compared to those of yesteryear.

Could there be any harmful chemicals in there that derives from the fertiliser or pesticides? Not being able to afford durian these days could be a blessing in disguise.

Anonymous 273021436761739: As a responsible member of parliament, you must get your facts right before you say it in Parliament, instead of the other way round.

Voting Public: To the voting public - we have many pressing issues in Malaysia which affect many Malaysians.

Here we have a minister who chooses to waste Parliament time on trivial matters which could easily be decided and carried out at the departmental or even at the ministry level.

If you are still voting for such ministers who do not have any pertinent matters to raise in Parliament, it's time you change your mind and change it quick!
