Najib: GDP sees 6.2pct growth in third quarter 2017

Malaysia recorded a 6.2 percent growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in the third quarter of this year, an achievement that proves that the country’s economic management is on track, said Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The finance minister said the achievement made Malaysia one of the countries which recorded the highest economic growth in the world this year.

He said the achievement was in line with the demand of Islam, which always set the best and highest targets in all matters.

“As Muslims, we have to set the level of excellence that we have to achieve, thus making sure we have targets for whatever we do, such as the best, the highest, both of which mean excellence,” he said when opening the Mahmoodiah Surau in Precinct 18 in Putrajaya today.

Najib, who had earlier chaired the weekly meeting of the cabinet, joined the local residents at Friday prayers at the new surau that can accommodate 1,200 worshippers at any one time.
