UPSR: NUTP urges schools to respect pupils' emotions, feelings

The National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) has called for schools to respect the emotions and feelings of all pupils who will receive their results of the 2017 Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) examination today.

Its secretary-general, Harry Tan Huat Hock said this was because every student has the right to be given fair attention.

“If only the students with 6A's are celebrated while pupils who have shown outstanding improvement in certain subjects are not, they will certainly feel disappointed.

“This is because they have a long way to go,” he said in a statement here today.

Tan was commenting on the statement by Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid who wanted schools that wished to celebrate their pupils to not only focus on those with 6A’s.

He said the suggestion by Mahdzir was also to prevent disappointment and the existence of certain groups who would think having straight A’s was everything.
