Former Bersatu leader Anina Saadudin wants to know why the party’s leadership had lied to her on the status of its youth wing.

In a statement today, she recalled how Bersatu secretary-general Shahruddin Md Salleh had said that the party had yet to establish its Srikandi (women’s) wing as of December last year.

Anina, who was stripped of her post as Srikandi chief last year, had said that she believed it was in done in relation to a lurid text messaging scandal that she was implicated in.

Anina's appointment as Srikandi chief was reported the month prior, along with the rest of Bersatu's leadership line-up.

However, Shahruddin had said that the issue of Anina being stripped of her post as Srikandi chief did not arise as the wing was not in existence yet.

Anina claimed that Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir himself had informed her in front of Shahruddin that only the party’s Armada or youth wing was registered.

“So I was shocked when I found out that the Armada wing does not exist even today in the Registrar of Societies’ (ROS) system. This means that the oath-taking and appointment of all youth leaders are invalid...
